Job Description:

The role of the Estate and Financial Planning Specialist (EFPS) is to provide estate and financial planning services to qualified clients and an ability to engage experienced advisors in more complex opportunities. This role requires a blend of technical ability along with outstanding communication skills to review financial plans with advisors and clients. The Estate and Financial Planning Specialist provides personalized comprehensive financial planning to clients via CSF advisors.

While the role contributes to sales, this role is an advisory role that requires being kept at arms length from the sales role. Planning employees are not commissioned sales people nor are they licensed to sell product. It is important that clients view this service as balanced and objective.

Role reports to Regional Director, EFPS

Role Accountabilities:

  • Contribute to CSF sales results by providing EFPS qualified clients with comprehensive financial planning advice.

  • Support needs of the Financial Planning Support team by providing advanced level training to select CSF advisors in support of their development with respect to Financial Planning

  • Serve as a financial planning services resource for advisors and Financial Centres

  • Deliver seminars/presentations on advanced planning topics.

  • Maintain a current and thorough knowledge of estate and financial planning through research, attending industry related functions, etc.

  • Large Insurance Case results in a designated region- shared with their leader

  • Wealth results in a designated region - shared with their leader

What do you need to succeed?

  • Excellent knowledge of estate and financial planning

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong influence skills

  • Excellent facilitation and presentation skills

  • Strong relationship management skills

  • Full competence in the use of Sun Life Financial Distributors financial planning support tools (SVFA).

  • Demonstrated self-management skills.

  • Strong analytical ability

  • As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada or worldwide.

Education, Licensing & Accreditation Requirements:

  • 5+ years in a Financial Planning or related role

  • One or more of the following: CFP/Pl.Fin. (in Québec), CLU, CSC, CA, RFP, LLB

  • IQPF Diploma (an asset)

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
