Job Description:
About the role:
Reporting to the AVP, Individual Wealth Operations, this role is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the operations of the Individual Wealth Operations (IWO) Fixed Wealth team. This position provides strategic and operational leadership and requires a broad set of skills that includes results-oriented leadership, superior communication and relationship management, and demonstrated competence in mobilizing teams to solve problems and deliver results.
The Director will work closely with the Sun Life Global Investments teams to deliver a best-in-class service experience for multiple stakeholders in the Fixed Wealth business. The incumbent will be responsible for accurate and timely service delivery as well as initiating, leading, and managing change in a high-volume, fast-paced, front-line client service environment.
What you will be doing:
Provide overall accountability for leadership of a team of approximately 70 employees across multiple managers and locations in Canada (Montreal, Toronto, Waterloo) and India.
Lead, coach, and develop a talented and knowledgeable team focused on delivering client and business results
Liaise effectively with internal partners in SLGI to ensure superior, cost-effective, and quality service delivery that will support sales and enhance Client and Advisor experience
Develop and effectively use the management operating system framework (balanced scorecard, OKRs, and dashboards) to manage the business
Continually improve the delivery of key performance targets, meeting and improving on published service standards in a cost-effective and accurate manner
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase operational efficiency
Lead change initiatives to ensure adoption and execution of planned changes across teams
What you need to succeed:
Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop exceptional leaders/staff; inspire the team to deliver top quartile results in a rapidly changing environment
Excellent Client/Advisor relationship skills to build relationships and handle escalations (both in person and virtually)
Ability to collaborate across multiple teams and stakeholders and hold partners accountable where necessary to achieve optimal outcomes for our clients
Strong analytical skills (ability to read and interpret data)
Strong problem-solving skills (ability to cut through large amounts of data/information and clearly identify issues that need to be solved; ability to bring innovative solutions to the table)
Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
Strong communication skills - written, formal, and informal presentations; ability to engage audiences; ability to convey complex issues in a simple, understandable way; ability to work effectively across teams with diverse groups
Proven ability to make sound business decisions and execute successfully based on outcomes
Highly motivated, creative, and flexible
As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada or worldwide.
University degree with approximately 5-10 years of relevant experience; operational leadership experience in the investment fund industry is an asset
In-depth knowledge and experience within the industry as a successful leader
Understanding of individual fixed wealth products
Unique Requirement:
Travel to Toronto, Waterloo and Montreal locations, as well as occasional travel to other locations

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
