Job Description:
About the role
As a "Director, Hub Tech Lead, Build my Business Hub" and a member of the Hub leadership team in a shared leadership model, the Hub Technical Lead drives the technology strategy and delivery across the hub and any other areas required to support Sun Life Distribution technology.
The Hub’s mission is to enable Sun Life advisors to grow their business through digital tools that improve the ease of communication with Clients, maintain a strong digital presence that drives engagement, and build and nurture the client relationships and streamline operations. The Hub is also responsible for ensuring use of the right practices, helping to problem solve and keeping all squads in the hub invested and collaborative. This role works closely business and technology equivalents across various functions to ensure alignment of development and technology solution delivery.
What you'll be doing
- Educate teams on end-to-end journey and its process components & pain points
- Identify shared components / capabilities and align with technical & architecture requirements
- Support teams as escalation point for constraints and roadblocks
- Champion product and process simplification
- Development and maintenance of the Hub delivery roadmap
- Communicate priorities to Squads based on the roadmap
- Jointly lead & orchestrate the prioritization, selection, and “incubation” process (e.g., business unit outreach, prototyping & co-creation, design thinking, business casing, financial oversight, etc.)
- Define replicable methodology and entrance / exit criteria in agile way of working
- Act as the ‘face’ of the journey stage in partnership with the Hub Owner to the organization from idea to kickoff through to implementation; manage stakeholders
- Own long-term Hub technology roadmap, including integration points with other hubs, journeys or platforms.
- Drive strategic business casing & opportunity sizing for the Hub
What you'll need to succeed
Domain Expertise
- Deep knowledge of relevant domains/products/experiences of the journey stage, which includes delivering holistic advice (life, wealth, health) digitally to our clients
- Experience delivering large-scale digital/agile transformations
- Experience developing & shaping strategy for a product area or large program
- Broad network and ability to influence across the organization is critical
- Vendor management experience including vendor selection, contracting, integration, and oversight.
Agile Experience
- Experienced in or excited to learn Agile way of working (e.g., quick iterations with done better than perfect)
- Experience delivering agile at scale (e.g. SAFe)
- Experience applying design thinking principles for a variety of end users
Individual Skills
- Ability to set a vision and map the steps to achieve that vision
- Ability to translate day-to-day learnings and team inputs into strategic actions
- Aptitude for distilling high-level input into clear recommendations, deliverables, and actions
- Ability to both grasp big picture and have rigorous attention to detail

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
