Job Description:

A Change Management Consultant is a key role accountable for change management activities within Retail Advice and Solutions. This role supports advisors and firms within all three distribution channels (SLFD, IID and Prospr). Changes may include organizational culture transformations, changes that impact business processes and roles, changes in underlying systems or technology platforms and any kind of change that impacts people. Their success depends on the successful adoption of new ways of working.

What will you do?

Working with the Initiative Owner, ensure there is a clear articulation of the change story - what will be different? What are the key “From … To’s”

  • Assess stakeholder analysis, risk and change impact
  • Execute on the various elements of the change management strategy
  • Anticipate and manage anticipated resistance as a key part of the Change Plan
  • Consult initiative sponsors or project team members as needed
  • Execute key activities identified within the integrated Change Plan that covers all key stakeholder audiences across the key change management activity levers:
    • communications plan
    • sponsor action plan
    • coaching plan
    • training plan
    • resistance management plan
  • Support training efforts
  • Engage and support senior leaders
  • Integrate change management activities with overall program/ project execution plan in partnership with the Program / Project Manager
  • Evaluate and ensure business / operational readiness from a “people” perspective
  • Define and measure success metrics and monitor change progress
  • Assess effectiveness of change tactics and use feedback loops to continuously adapt tactics to the intended audience

What do you need to succeed?

  • University education in the areas of business, marketing, communications or journalism
  • Previous experience with similar types of change or transformation initiatives
  • Change management certification or designation preferred (e.g. Prosci Certification)
  • Financial services experience an asset
  • Acute business acumen and understanding of organizational issues and challenges - specific organizational experience / understanding of current culture / challenges would be an additional asset
  • Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies and tools
  • A solid understanding of how people go through a change and the change process; experience with prior / similar change initiatives
  • Excellent communication skills to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences at all levels in an organization

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
