Job Description:

As a key member of our Business Growth team, you will play a pivotal role in fueling advisor expansion across the organization. Reporting to the AVP, Business Growth & Strategy, you will help strengthen Sun Life’s advisor network by sourcing top financial professionals and positioning our industry-leading Sun Life Canada Securities Inc. platform.

What will you do?

Prospecting & Lead Generation

  • Proactively source and qualify advisor candidates through calls, email campaigns, social and digital outreach.
  • Execute strategic networking to connect with third-party advisors, understand their practice needs, and present Sun Life as the partner of choice.
  • Maintain candidate-tracking workflows and key performance metrics to support pipeline management.

Client & Advisor Engagement

  • Build trusted relationships by understanding business, financial, and client needs.
  • Develop community relationships and centers of influence to broaden reach.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of financial markets, investment trends, policies, and advisor business models (including teaming structures).

Sales Execution & Recruitment

  • Manage inbound/outbound communication, follow-ups, negotiations, and application processing.
  • Conduct early-stage screening to support due-diligence requirements.
  • Coordinate onboarding activities and support advisor team transitions.

Collaboration

  • Partner with field sales teams-including wholesalers and Sales Directors-to develop recruitment strategies and support territory growth.
  • Work closely with the AVP, Business Growth to maintain a healthy advisor pipeline and optimize engagement touchpoints.
  • Ensure seamless handoff of qualified candidates for final interview stages and collaborate with internal stakeholders for a positive advisor experience.

Administration, Reporting & Campaign Support

  • Use CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) to track activities, manage data, and report progress.
  • Share insights to improve processes, programs, and strategic initiatives.
  • Support the development and execution of sales campaigns, advisor events, and marketing communications.

What do you need to succeed?

You are social, empathetic, solutions-oriented, and a strong communicator-naturally skilled at connecting with people and building trust.

  • Ability to gather and interpret market intelligence to support strategic positioning.
  • Exceptional networking, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Experience in a prospecting-focused role with strong planning and execution discipline.
  • Demonstrated success sourcing talent from multiple channels and building high-quality pipelines.
  • Ability to quickly assess advisor potential through interviews, digital profiles, and other indicators.
  • Professional presence and excellent relationship-building abilities.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements for financial services sales roles.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with experience working across multiple internal teams.
  • Post-secondary degree in business and 2-5 years of experience in business development or a similar relationship-driven role.

What will be nice to have:

  • Experience in financial services-especially life insurance, investments, or wealth management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CRM systems (preferably Salesforce).
  • Experience with social media publishing or digital outreach tools.

Special Requirements

  • Travel within your designated region is required.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
