What you will be responsible for

As a Fund Tax services Tax Analyst you will:

  • Calculates funds deferred losses and updates carry forward schedule (for year-end distributions)
  • Update distribution templates with accounting to tax adjustments information
  • Ensures that income is properly allocated between income types and Return of Capital
  • Updates and monitors income trust (IT) distribution allocation and tax treatment
  • Verifies income allocation factors with information released by the issuer
  • Participates in dividend accruals process for each funds holding REIT, LLP and US Trust
  • LP products - involvement in gathering tax information from companies held in the portfolio, coordinate/liaise with Financial Reporting Analyst in computation of partnership income, communication of tax slip information to brokers and via CDS website
  • Assist in preparing year end and mid-term audit requirements
  • Ad hoc projects/analyses as assigned by the Manager on various Tax legislation Research
  • to train the staff on Tax provisions and accounting to Tax adjustments with Technical explanation
  • Completes other special projects or tasks assigned

What we value

Skills and Experience:

•University Degree - BA, Comm/ Accounting, with focus on Tax/Finance/Audit
•Working towards CPA
•2 to 4 year tax and accounting experience in Mutual Fund Services
•Proficient in MS Office (Advance excel spreadsheets, access database & word) knowledge of Alteryx, Power BI and Python are an asset
•Familiarity with accounting systems (i.e. MCH, Global Quest, Insight) is an asset
•Excellent problem solving and decision making skills
•Excellent verbal & written communication skills
•Ability to multi-task in a fast pace environment
•Self-starter, accurate & detail oriented
•Willingness to learn and understand mutual fund tax regulations and issues
•Ability to work both independently and in a team environment

Salary Range:

$51,000 - $84,000 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
