Mennonite Cultural Advocate
Required for Two Hills Mennonite School
A part-time (0.5 FTE) Mennonite Cultural Advocate is required for Two Hills Mennonite School, commencing immediately.
Two Hills Mennonite School is a K-Grade 12 school located in Two Hills, Alberta with approximately 450 students.
The successful candidate will promote Mennonite culture within the school and broader community while serving as a liaison between the school and its families.
The successful candidate will:
- Understand and communicate effectively in both Low German and English.
- Confidently assist in creating and evaluating educational resources that teach and celebrate Mennonite culture and language.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm and maintain a student-centered approach.
- Collaborative with staff and families to foster positive engagement, clear communication, and understanding of school routines, programs, and expectations.
- Communicate diplomatically and sensitively with teachers to provide guidance on Mennonite customs, values, and expectations, supporting positive relationships and effective classroom practices.
- Contribute to the development and review of school and division policies that affirm and respect Mennonite traditions and values.
Strong knowledge of or lived experience within the Mennonite community is required, along with experience or training in working with Low German-speaking students and families. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, as is post-secondary training in education, cultural studies, or community service. Experience working in a school setting would be considered an asset.

In 1995, parent and community stakeholders initiated the amalgamation of five school boards into what is now St. Paul Education. In doing so, St. Paul Education became the only school division in Alberta to operate both separate and public schools under one board. The Division's religious, linguistic and cultural diversity is a source of strength and pride.
We serve 3627 students (K-12), including Catholic, First Nation, Mennonite, Hutterite and Home Schooling learners. Our 19 definable school sites are staffed by approximately 230 FTE teaching staff and 300 support staff.
