St. Albert Public Schools is currently recruiting a Full Time, Temporary, Health Care Aide (HCA) for a work assignment with Joseph M. Demko School.

Hours of Work: 32.50 hrs. /week; 6.5 hrs./day; Monday-Friday; Full-Time, Temporary
Hourly Rate: $28.32/hr (Rehab Assistant rate), as per the CUPE Collective Agreement.
Expected End Date: June 30, 2026
Specific Needs/Requirements for this position:
- Health Care Aide certificate is required
- Experience working with children who have Diabetes and following an individual care plan is required
- Experience with students with complex needs is required
- Current CPR is an asset
- Experience in supporting the classroom teacher with programming modifications or adaptations as needed
- Previous experience working with students with complex medical and cognitive disorders
- Experience working with students with various diverse, learning and behavioural needs including Autism.
- Experience delivering interventions and strategies as laid out by the classroom teacher and other multi-disciplinary team members
- Use a total communication approach with students including oral communication, sign language, cued speech and visual supports as needed
- Knowledgeable in using strategies that enhance communication in a classroom setting, field trips and unstructured parts of the school day
- Need to be familiar with and comfortable using AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication).
- Experience with assistive communication devices and technology
- Experience with providing social, emotional, and behavioral supports
