St. Albert Public Schools is currently recruiting a Part Time, Probationary, Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (REHAB) for a work assignment with our Inclusive Learning Team and Preschool.

More than 9000 students are enrolled in St. Albert Public Schools. From Preschool to Grade 12, our students learn and succeed in programs that are recognized for excellence and their focus on citizenship and sound values.



Hours of Work: 24 hrs. /week; (2 days 6.0 hrs./day for Inclusive Learning Team and 2 days 6.0 hrs./day for Preschool); Part Time, Probationary

Hourly Rate: $27.07 per hour, as per the CUPE Collective Agreement.



The Speech-Language Assistant works collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support children with speech, language, and communication needs. This role is integral in promoting student success through targeted interventions, collaborative planning, and comprehensive documentation.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Speech and Language Interventions:

    Provide high-quality, evidence-based interventions to students, under the supervision and guidance of a Speech-Language Pathologist, tailored to individual communication goals.
  • Team Collaboration:

    Partner effectively with interdisciplinary team members, classroom staff, and caregivers to support and enhance students’ speech and language development across settings.
  • Documentation and Case Management:

    Observe, track, and document student progress, strengths, and needs. Contribute to the development and implementation of individualized intervention plans and support strategies.



Specific Needs/Requirements for this position:

  • Strong preference for completion of Speech Language Pathologist Assis tant diploma
  • Knowledge and experience of preschool and school aged language delays and disorders, as well as intervention strategies
  • Minimum of 3 year of working experience with children, including working with children with diverse needs
  • Sound clinical judgement, problem solving and decision-making in combination with sound analytical abilities are essential
  • Experience using and creating visual tools, activities and materials to facilitate learning
  • Experience working with students with complex communication needs preferred
  • Ability to collect and compile data to document student’s performance and progress toward meeting established treatment objectives
  • Knowledge of Augmentative and Alternative Communication considered an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal and strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to respond to direction and openness in reviewing work
  • Ability to work cooperatively and as part of a team, and proven ability to work independently
  • Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development
