HUMAN RESOURCE SERVICES ASSISTANT - STAFFING AND LABOUR RELATIONS
Two (2) - 1.0 FTE Permanent Positions
Salary Range: $64,350 - $80,440 per year
The Simcoe County District School Board is seeking qualified applicants for the permanent position of Human Resource Services Assistant - Staffing and Labour Relations. The successful candidate will work within the Human Resource Services Department to provide administrative support and accurate information to new and existing employees, school administrators, management teams, HR officers and various department teams of the board with a high level of initiative, professionalism, diplomacy, and confidentiality. This includes but is not limited to ensuring, verifying, and maintaining employee documentation and data entry is accurate through the recruitment, orientation, seniority, experience, salary, leaves, and auditing processes. This also includes supporting human resource initiatives, records and processes regarding annual employee requirements, labour relations, and grievances. This position requires professionalism, diplomacy, confidentiality, and the ability to work both independently and as a team member.
Qualifications, Pertinent Skills and Experience:
- Three (3) year College diploma in Human Resources, Business or a related equivalent combination of education and experience. University degree in Human Resource Management would be preferable;
- Three (3) years' administrative experience, preferably in an educational setting or a large, complex, unionized human resources environment;
- Excellent computer skills including experience with data management systems, Google Docs, Office 365, and MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel, and OneDrive);
- Knowledge of IPPS.net or similar HRIS would be a definite asset;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills;
- Ability to prioritize and work in a multifunctional environment with competing priorities;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Ability to work with issues of a sensitive and confidential nature;
- HRPA designation is preferred.
Duties:
- Process retirements and resignations into the retirement database, and data entry into IPPS.net;
- Coordination of the annual performance appraisal process, including sending out notification to managers, supervisors, administrators, and employees; tracking of performance documents throughout the year and the collection of documents at the end of the performance year;
- Coordination of the process for all teacher performance appraisals, which includes NTIP teachers;
- Coordination of the union billing process for all union groups;
- Respond to Apply to Education (ATE) inquiries;
- Provide administrative support for negotiations;
- Scheduling of grievances;
- Responsible for all of the electronic filing of personnel files and Vulnerable Sector Checks (VSC);
- Responsible for the yearly mandatory training declaration and offence declaration process;
- Works closely with the Executive Assistant on a variety of special projects and initiatives;
- Provide back-up support for the absence system - EASY CONNECT;
- Data entry for the human resources system (IPPS.net);
- Assist in recruitment process for large supply recruits, including reference checks;
- Other duties as assigned.
TESTING MAY BE REQUIRED DURING THE SELECTION PROCESS.
This position works twelve (12) months of the year. The compensation range for this twelve (12) month position is $64,350 to $80,440 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. This position is based on a thirty-five (35) hour work week.
Participation in the OMERS Pension Plan is mandatory for all full-time permanent employees,
even if currently in receipt of an OMERS pension.
