The Simcoe County District School Board is accepting applications from SCDSB Contract DECE staff for the following position:

Spring Writing Contract: Revising the first 20 days of kindergarten and creating the first 50 days of kindergarten guidance document

One, 90-hour DECE position to be completed by June 1st 2026.

The successful candidates for the Summer Writing Contract will collaborate on the planning of the following tasks:

  • Revise the current first 20 days of Kindergarten guidance document to include the first 50 days of Kindergarten
  • Align the first 50 days of Kindergarten document with the revised Kindergarten curriculum

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • ECE Diploma or equivalent degree
  • Experience in creating culturally relevant and responsive system-level instruction and assessment resources (preferred)
  • at least five years kindergarten experience

KEY COMPETENCIES OF THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT

Successful applicants for this writing contract will have:

  • a thorough understanding of the revised Kindergarten curriculum (2026)
  • knowledge and experience in building a play-based kindergarten classroom environment that is inclusive of all learners and is reflective of the four frames of learning.
  • knowledge of Culturally Relevant and Responsive Pedagogy (CRRP) and anti-oppressive pedagogy
  • a repertoire of effective evidence-informed instructional strategies to engage students in learning;
  • experience working in collaboration with colleagues;
  • an ability to align professional learning with system priorities;
  • excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills; and
  • Growing Success, The Kindergarten Addendum - Assessment, Evaluation and Reporting in Ontario Schools.

Participation in the OMERS Pension Plan is mandatory for all full-time permanent employees,

even if currently in receipt of an OMERS pension.
