S.i Systems public sector client is looking for an Intermediate Network Security Engineer to review and optimize existing firewall rules, ensuring strict alignment with current internal standards and guidelines

12-18 month contract to start, possibility of extension. Remote role but occasional travel to Downtown Vancouver office.

Must Haves:

• Strong Palo Alto and Cisco FTD firewall experience
• Experience in firewall rule review and configuration management
• Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices.
• Experience with firewall ACL rule creation and management.
• Ability to document complex technical configurations accurately.

Nice to Haves:

• Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCNA, Palo Alto PCNSE).
• Experience with firewall deployment in partner organizations.

Responsibilities:

Firewall Rule Review and Update:

• Review all existing firewall rules to determine their relevance and compliance with current internal standards.
• Update firewall rules as necessary to ensure they conform to the latest security guidelines and best practices.

Firewall Configuration Documentation:

• Thoroughly document the current firewall configurations for all firewalls within the organization.
• Create clear and comprehensive documentation that aids in understanding and managing firewall configurations.

Hardening Guidelines Development and Implementation:

• Collaborate with the Network and Cybersecurity teams to develop hardening guidelines for Palo Alto and Cisco FTD firewalls.
• Assist in implementing these guidelines to enhance the security posture of our firewall infrastructure.

Support for Current Initiatives

• Provide support for current initiatives that require new firewall rules to be developed and deployed.
