Intermediate Network Administrator for day-to-day monitoring, maintenance, and support of a complex Cisco network infrastructure environment

Our Oil & Gas client is seeking an Intermediate Network Administrator for day-to-day monitoring, maintenance, and support of a complex Cisco network infrastructure environment.

This is an initial contract to the end of year with a possibility of extension. The successful candidate will be living in Calgary and agreeable to a hybrid working model of 3 days in office/week. There will also be a request for on-call support and after-hours incident response support.

Must-Haves:

• 3-5 years of experience in network administration/ network operations
• At least 2 recent projects supporting enterprise Cisco environments, administering and troubleshooting common enterprise network services and security solutions
• In-depth knowledge of network hardware, protocols, and technologies (e.g. LAN, WAN, switching, routing)
• Experience with network monitoring, automation, and scripting tools (e.g. Wireshark, Python)

Nice-to-Haves:

• Cisco certifications (CCNA, CCNP)
• Knowledge of the Oil and Gas industry

Responsibilities Overview:

• Monitor network performance, bandwidth utilization, and event logs to identify potential problems
• Perform regular maintenance tasks such as software updates, security patching, and backups on network devices
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software-related issues on routers, switches, firewalls, and other network equipment
• Implement and test network failover, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans
• Document network configurations, change management processes, and operational procedures
• Analyze network metrics and trends to identify optimization opportunities and make recommendations
• Work closely with the IT operations team to ensure the availability, security, and performance of critical network systems and services
• Proactively identify and resolve network-related issues to minimize disruptions and maintain service level agreements
