Crawford Bay School is seeking a skilled and reflective educator to lead our primary class one day per week (Wednesdays, Kindergarten to Grade 2). The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of early science education, numeracy, and literacy development, with a vision to design and deliver instruction that meets the diverse needs of young learners. This includes effectively supporting very early learners-those still developing foundational number and literacy concepts-while extending and enriching the learning of students working beyond grade level expectations. The teacher will value inquiry-based and play-based approaches that promote curiosity, problem-solving, and conceptual understanding in authentic contexts. A deep knowledge of developmental learning progressions, combined with skill in managing a very active and diverse primary classroom, is essential.

· Ability to teach effectively in a multi-aged classroom

· Experience sharing a class and working collaboratively with a co-teacher to maintain routines and predictability for young learners

· Understand the rationale and benefits of multi-aged learning

· Ability to design and implement inquiry-based learning.

· Experience using a wide variety of authentic assessment strategies.

· Ability to plan, coordinate, and integrate play-based learning opportunities

· Commitment to collaborative planning in a shared class

· Excellent self-management and organizational skills

Salary Range; $63,367 - $111,488 per year, in accordance with the current SD8-Kootenay Lake / KLTF Collective Agreement. Placement on the salary grid is based on qualifications and years of teaching experience as evaluated by the BC Teacher Qualification Service (TQS).



Applicants must be certified in British Columbia with a Professional Teaching Certificate, or be eligible for certification by the start date of the assignment.
