Position - Continuing Teacher

Assignment Type - Continuing

FTE/Point Time - 0.5 Point Time



This posting has primarily case management responsibilities (as part of the NSMS Broad-Based model of support). The schedule can be flexible.

Qualifications

  • Successful experience with adapting and modifying materials for a diversity of learners
  • Working knowledge of using computing technology to support learning
  • A commitment to the Principles of Inclusive Schools and Principles of Learning



Specific to this posting:

  • Bachelor of Education (Middle)
  • Master’s Degree in Counselling or equivalent
  • Extensive successful teaching experience at the middle school level
  • Successful experience in bringing the Principles of Learning into daily practice
  • Thorough knowledge of the Assessment, Evaluation and Reporting policies and practices in the School District
  • Demonstrated success in using a variety of instructional strategies to meet the needs of a diverse range of learners
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams of educators in a strong, confident and efficient manner
  • Interest in and knowledge of current educational research and emerging trends in teaching and learning
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a collaborative team member with school personnel, district staff and community agencies
  • Successful experience working directly with students who have social emotional or behavioural challenges
  • Experience implementing programs and strategies to support the development of students with special needs
  • Restitution Level 1 (preferably Restitution Level 2)
  • Successful experience preparing the documentation required for designation related to intensive behaviour intervention, behaviour support, learning disabilities and low incidence categories
