JOB SUMMARY:
An employee hired to prepare and or assist in the preparation of meals and supervise students learning food preparation in an instructional kitchen/cafeteria. This employee is responsible to an assigned supervisor.
POSITION: TEMPORARY until the return of the incumbent or June 25, 2026.
HOURS OF WORK: 40 hrs/wk. 7:00 -15:30 - When school is in session for students.
WAGE RATE: As per CUPE agreement $30.75
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Possess or working towards a valid inter-provincial Journeyman Cook Certificate (Red Seal)
- Food Safe Certificate
- Minimum of three years' experience in institutional and/or commercial food preparation

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Supervise and instruct students in assigned learning situations and food preparation assignments as required. Report on student progress to administration.
- Assist in the demonstration and instruction of students in proper food preparation, cooking and baking methods, procedures and techniques, safety habits, hygiene and sanitation standards.
- Cook, bake, and perform other food-preparation duties for daily breakfast and lunch programs and special events.
- Assist with the preparation of breakfast and lunch recipes and menus.
- Assist in the ordering of food and supplies, and maintain inventory levels.
- Operate and maintain standard kitchen tools and appliances.
- Participates in kitchen cleanup routine.
- Manage cash register sales and maintain records.
- Perform other job-related duties.
