The annual salary for a full-time teaching position ranges from $59,711 to $109,520, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. The salary will be prorated based on FTE.

West Vancouver Schools is seeking a collaborative and experienced educator for a new Foundational Skills Enhancement Teacher position (0.8 FTE). This District enhancement role focuses on supporting the development of core foundational skills in literacy and numeracy, primarily in K-7 classrooms. The successful candidate will work closely with classroom teachers, school teams, and district staff to implement inclusive, research-informed instructional practices that meet the diverse needs of learners.

This position will work closely with the District Principal of Teaching and Learning and the District Vice Principal of Early Learning to align with system-wide goals and provide responsive, school-based support. While the focus is on elementary education, experience supporting educators in Grades 8-12 will be considered an asset.

Position Summary:

The Elementary District Enhancement Teacher provides district and school-level supports and resources aligned with District priorities. As part of a district team, this role helps coordinate and lead professional learning and instructional practice in the areas of foundational literacy and numeracy development. This includes co-planning, co-teaching, and co-assessing with classroom educators, as well as supporting resource development and collaborative inquiry.

Required Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate must demonstrate the following:

• A strong understanding and background in Literacy and Numeracy instruction, curriculum and assessment

• Demonstrated success mentoring and supporting colleagues in the instruction of Literacy and Numeracy

• Demonstrated success in presenting and engaging educators to design for inclusivity in the conventional classroom

• Ability to coordinate and plan school and district Literacy and Numeracy instructional programming and Professional Development aligning with district strategic priorities

• Ability to align instructional practices with developmental stages and skill acquisition of core foundations, literacy and numeracy, in the K-7 classroom

• Knowledge and experience providing and developing curricular, pedagogical and resource support for teachers including co-planning, co-teaching, and co-assessing

• Strong understanding of inclusive and responsive education practices and demonstrated success working with diverse learners

• Strong interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills and proven ability, commitment, and drive to work cooperatively and effectively with other educators in a collegial team setting

• Recent teaching experience in K-7 is required and having experience in the 8-12 context is an asset
