Two-Year Term Position

The Langley School District invites applications for the position of District Vice-Principal - ELL and SWIS for Instructional Services K-12.

ABOUT THE LANGLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT

The Langley School District (SD35) is located on the traditional territories of the Katzie, Kwantlen, Matsqui, and Semiahmoo First Nations. Our district serves over 26,000 students through 45 schools and a wide variety of programs, including French Immersion, International Baccalaureate, and robust supports for multilingual learners. We are dedicated to fostering inclusive, future-ready learning environments guided by collaboration, innovation, and equity.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a collaborative and visionary educational leader for the role of District Vice-Principal - ELL and SWIS. This is a two-year term position based in Instructional Services and reports to the District Principal of ELL, Modern Languages, and SWIS. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting English Language Learners and modern language instruction

THE ROLE

  • Work in concert with the District Principal of ELL, Modern Languages, and SWIS to set vision and implement high yield instruction across the district.
  • Recruitment, onboarding and supervision of ELL itinerant teachers.
  • Plan and implement research-based instructional practices that respond to the needs of ELL learners.
  • Organize Language Challenge exam opportunities for students.
  • Collaborate with site-based administrators in the support and delivery of inclusive practices for multi-linguals
  • Support schools in the implementation of interventions for language learners
  • Promote and facilitate Instructional Services initiatives, such as co-teaching and UDL.
  • Plan, facilitate and implement teacher professional learning opportunities, including Professional Learning Days and Teacher Growth Plans.
  • Implement systems and structures to meet the Ministry of Education Policy for English Language Learners
  • Support Department Heads in leading ELL structures and practices at their sites and through department meetings
  • Other duties as assigned by the District Principal of the International Student Program and ELL/Languages Dept.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Teacher Regulation Branch certification or eligibility
  • Master of Education preferred or equivalent post-secondary graduate training
  • Instructional experience in literacy and language acquisition
  • Superior interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Exemplary organizational and planning skills
  • Experience in managing system change

SALARY AND BENEFITS

The salary for this position is $143,009-$150,669.
