Salary Range: $59,711 to $109,520 (range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance to the collective agreement)

Effective Date: immediately, until not later than January 23, 2026

Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment.
  • Knowledge of, and demonstrated application of, the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC Educators.
  • Academic training with an English degree preferred
  • Successful teaching experience in English, Social Studies & Creative Writing courses at the secondary level
  • Successful experience teaching with the use of a learning management system such as Moodle for teaching English courses
  • Successful experience indigenizing English curriculum
  • Demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively as an English department
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of curriculum re-design and the implications for English and Communication courses
  • Knowledgeable about, and committed to balanced assessment practices in English
  • Demonstrated use of highly successful instructional strategies in the classroom
  • Demonstrated commitment to the use of results to improve the teaching/learning process
  • Demonstrated high energy and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to use technology to leverage student learning and to communicate consistently and effectively with parents
  • Demonstrated excellent classroom management behaviour management and classroom organization skills
  • Demonstrated sensitivity, awareness and understanding of adolescent development and enthusiasm for working and developing positive relationships with adolescents
  • Commitment to working with parents as partners in student success
  • Demonstrated capabilities in working effectively and collaboratively as a member of a staff team
  • Demonstrated ability and knowledge of strategies necessary to motivate young adults to achieve at a high level
  • Proven ability to inspire confidence and self-worth in adolescents
