Salary Range: $59,711 to $109,520 (range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance to the collective agreement)

Effective Date: September 1, 2025, until not later than June 30, 2026

Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment.
  • Knowledge of, and demonstrated application of, the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC Educators.
  • Training and successful experience in teaching intermediate students using Ministry of Education New Curriculum; teaching experience with Grade 5 is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan for and teach all required subjects at this grade level
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of inquiry and project-based learning, research skills, and student demonstration of learning utilizing the 4 C's of the redesigned curriculum: communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity
  • Proven ability to create a safe, caring and inclusive learning environment that promotes the commitment to the success of all learners with differentiation while supporting diverse and inclusive learning conditions.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated ability in teaching a well-balanced literacy program to intermediate students sound teaching practices exemplified in SMART learning, the ACT, Reading Power and Writing Power/Write Traits
  • Knowledge and demonstrated ability in teaching a well-balanced numeracy program to intermediate students including the use of S.N.A.P.
  • Demonstrated ability to support school goals such as partnering with the community to provide meaningful learning experiences for students including Place Based Learning
  • Knowledge of methods for selecting, modifying and adapting instructional materials to meet the academic, social and emotional needs of students
  • Appropriate coursework and/or experience with Indigenous Education, Differentiation, RTI, Guided Reading and Assessment, Self Regulation (Calm, Alert & Learning, Mind Up, Zones of Regulation) is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to incorporate technology in instruction and part of students demonstration of learning
  • Knowledge of and proven experience in using current assessment practices to allow students to demonstrate understanding and guide instruction
  • Experience with RTI instructional approach both in classroom and school-wide setting is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability using technology to enhance student engagement for a wide range of abilities
  • Commitment to supporting PBIS and school-wide initiatives i.e. 6 Cedars/Virtues Project/Zones of Regulations, Grade 5 Leadership, Peer Leadership, The Virtues Project
  • Commitment to implementing all aspects of the Code of Conduct and Behaviour Matrix within the classroom and throughout the school
  • Proven ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with students, staff and parents
  • Proven ability as an effective team member, leading school-wide initiatives, working collaboratively with colleagues and administration
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning and the implementation of high impact instructional strategies
