Salary Range: $59,711 to $109,520 (range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance to the collective agreement)

Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching all areas of this assignment
  • Knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC Educators.
  • Thorough knowledge, understanding and demonstrated application of the First Peoples Principles of Learning, with a commitment to reconciliation and allyship
  • Demonstrated commitment to teamwork and working with colleagues in an open, accepting manner in order to promote a strong and caring professional learning community
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with all staff and administration in supporting all students through an RTI system and school wide student-centered model
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize trauma-informed perspectives, awareness of cultural sensitivity, social emotional developmentally appropriate proactive classroom management strategies in order to promote a positive and effective classroom learning environment and throughout the school; supporting PBS and school-wide initiatives in supporting the Core Competencies
  • Demonstrated knowledge, experience and willingness to teach self-regulation strategies and mindfulness to support the social/emotional needs of students
  • Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member in developing, planning supports, implementing, assessing and communicating progress towards goals on IEPs and to work collaboratively with staff, parents and administration in the implementation of these plans (School Based Team model)
  • Demonstrated ability to select, modify or adapt instructional materials to meet the individual academic, social/emotional, and behavioural needs of students for an inclusive classroom
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with applying effective strategies to support the development of literacy skills; preference will be given to individuals with successful experience with balanced literacy practice to encompass the 5 Pillars of Literacy, Guided Reading and small group instruction
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and successful experience with applying effective strategies to support the development of numeracy skills using whole class, small group instruction, Number Talks, High Yield Math Routines, and hands on learning opportunities
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to effectively use classroom, school, district and provincial level assessments to differentiate instruction and learning
  • Excellent demonstrated interpersonal skills with students, families, staff and community
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development and learning opportunities
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to integrate technology effectively in the classroom
  • Ability to manage a classroom based budget
