About the Position

The Business Manager reports to the Principal and oversees the general office operations of the secondary school site within the Chilliwack School District No. 33. This role ensures the alignment of management, organization, and administration practices on a day-to-day basis, including the supervision of support staff employees. The Business Manager promotes a welcoming, inclusive, equitable, and productive work environment and is pivotal in facilitating the school's educational purposes and efficient daily operations.

Core Responsibilities Include

  • Act as the office manager for the school, ensuring smooth operations and promoting a professional environment
  • Oversee procurement processes for the school
  • Supervise clerical support staff and oversee financial and clerical work
  • Manage invoicing and reconciliation of funding allocations for school programs
  • Oversee replacement staffing, registration, tracking and reporting, and project funding.
  • Manage third-party service providers and school use of District facilities, in liaison with the District Facilities department.
  • Manage and coordinate requests for maintenance of buildings, grounds and equipment

Salary Range: $67,879 to $84,848, commensurate with experience

A proficient leader with a strong background in financial management, budgeting, and accounting processes, coupled with demonstrated experience in office operations, staff supervision, and implementing fiscal protocols for educational programs and resources.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary certificate in finance, business administration, or related field.
  • Progressive experience in an administrative role.
  • Experience in supervision or peer mentoring of staff in a unionized environment.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience with standard business software applications and basic visual design programs (such as Canva or InDesign).
  • Knowledge of current technological applications for school administration, including ERP, school fee management software, and childcare management software.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to build effective working relationships, including working as a member of a team.
