POSITION: Junior School Teacher - temporary
ASSIGNMENT: Textiles, Food Studies, Career Education (Gr 8-9). This position has a grade 8/9 Foods/Textiles focus. It also includes Career Education classes. There will be opportunities to work collaboratively within the POD structure.
FTE: 1.0
LOCATION: Quesnel Junior School
EFFECTIVE DATES: Commencing September 1, 2025, until June 30, 2026, or earlier depending on the return of the incumbent
Basic Qualifications: A successful candidate will hold a valid BC Teaching Certificate and be a member in good standing in the BC Ministry of Education, Teacher Regulation Branch AND possess one or more of the following:
Training Specialization: Secondary Education with major/minor Home Economics
Related Teaching Experience: Recent successful experience teaching foods and textiles at the Secondary level
A Reasonable Expectation: based on a teacher's skills, abilities, professional development, and overall classroom teaching experience, that the teacher will be able to perform the duties in a successful manner in collaboration with other professional staff.
Additional Qualifications:
- Two or more courses at the 100 or 200 level in Home Economics or one year experience in the relevant subject area
- Have Food Safe Certification and proficiency with food equipment
Other: Commitment to the house-based team structure
The starting annual salary for the full-time Teacher ranges from $61,175 to $109,520 with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. We also offer a competitive benefits package and pension.
