What you’ll do

Position title: SAP iXp Intern - Build and Release Developer

Location: Waterloo, ON

Expected start date to end date: January 5 - April 24, 2026
Work hours: 40 hours per week desired

In this role you will:

  • Construct new processes for streamlining builds
  • Investigate new technologies for modernizing our release process
  • Be a vital part of releasing software to customers
  • Be mentored by an experienced supervisor who wants to see you learn, grow, and succeed

What you bring

We’re looking for someone who takes initiative, perseveres, and stays curious. You like to work on meaningful innovative projects and are energized by lifelong learning.

Successful applicants will have an exceptional ability to learn and the motivation to excel in software design, implementation, and testing.

The following qualifications are required:

  • Programming experience in an industry standard language such as Python, Java, C/C++ or Go
  • Interested in investigating and learning new technologies
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Overall average of at least 80%
  • Ability to work independently

The following are not required but would be valuable:

  • Experience developing CI/CD pipelines
  • Knowledge of Jenkins
  • Familiarity with GNU Make or other build automation tool
  • Work experience at a software development company
  • Software design experience
  • Significant hobby programming

Meet your team

Our Build and Release team pays a critical role in the delivery of software for SQL Anywhere, SAP IQ, and HANA Data Lake Relational Engine. We bring together components developed by multiple teams, integrating them into a robust build pipeline that produces installers for on-premise customers and manages deployments to the cloud. Our work ensures that high-quality, reliable software releases reach our customers efficiently and consistently across a variety of platforms.

In this role, you will be instrumental in modernizing our build infrastructure, introducing new capabilities, and enhancing the overall customer experience. You’ll have the opportunity to research, evaluate, and implement emerging technologies, while working hands-on with both Windows and Linux environments. Your day-to-day work will involve a diverse set of industry-standard tools and technologies, including Python, Jenkins, GNU Make, and Git, as you help drive improvements in our build and release processes.

SAP provides the hourly base salary rate range applicable for the posted role. The targeted range for this position is 18.00 - 40.00 CAD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidates will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Due to the nature of the role, which involves global interactions with SAP entities, as well as with employees and stakeholders in Canada, functional proficiency in English is required for positions based in the Quebec.
