Job Summary
The Senior Financial Analyst - Taxation and Accounting reports to the Director, Consolidation & Taxation. The incumbent is responsible, along with their supervisor, for overseeing taxation activities within the organization, including sales taxes and income tax filings. They are responsible for keeping the organization informed of upcoming tax changes, including timelines and financial impact, as well as ensuring compliance with legal requirements. The ideal candidate has excellent knowledge of accounting and financial consolidation.

Responsibilities
The following fall under the responsibility of the Senior Financial Analyst. Responsibilities span across Canada, the United States, and the interpretation of the international structure:
- Identify and implement tax planning/strategy opportunities for all tax types
- Prepare and review quarterly and annual tax provision accounts
- Prepare the consolidated tax provision and related note, and provide information to external auditors at year-end
- Prepare and coordinate Canadian tax filings, and coordinate U.S. and international tax filings
- Manage external audits related to sales taxes and income taxes
- Coordinate and prepare sales tax filings and property tax remittances
- Conduct tax research and stay informed of legislative changes
- Coordinate documentation and ensure compliance with transfer pricing policies
- Assist consultants with the preparation of R&D tax credit claims and identify new opportunities
- Perform internal compliance reviews if needed
- Clarify complex tax issues and communicate them to non-tax personnel
- Participate in and plan for the tax implications of corporate acquisitions
- Understand and actively engage with the international structure
- Other related duties
Requirements
- Minimum 4 years of experience
- Proficiency in both French and English
- CPA designation, with interest and knowledge in Canadian taxation
- Strong background in accounting
- Knowledge of U.S. tax law is an asset
- US GAAP background (an asset)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong knowledge of Canadian tax legislation and research tools
- Experience with financial statement consolidation
- Skilled in using Excel pivot tables
- Familiarity with US GAAP and IFRS standards and their implications
- Understanding of sales tax and income tax legislation
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and priority management skills
