Description
Bailey Metal Products, a proud subsidiary of Saint-Gobain, is seeking a Production Supervisor for its Surrey (British-Columbia) location, for the evening shift. This is a great chance to join a Top Employer and contribute to our growth and success.
Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 2:00pm-12:30am (4 days of 10 hours)
Summary
The Production Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all products are manufactured in alignment with the production schedule, established quality standards, packaging specifications, and company safety requirements. This role includes coordinating employee scheduling and maintaining effective communication with all supporting departments, including Production Scheduling, Shipping, and Maintenance.
They are responsible for executing the daily production plan, ensuring full compliance with the Company's Health & Safety program, coordinating and overseeing employee training, and maintaining a clean and orderly plant environment. The Production Supervisor also supports continuous improvement initiatives and ensures customer quality and delivery requirements are consistently met.
Responsibilities- Oversee daily production operations, including scheduling and supervising full-time and temporary staff.
- Conduct daily workplace inspections to assess product quality, safety, and operational issues.
- Address unsafe acts/conditions and resolve worker or safety concerns promptly.
- Manage equipment setup, operation, and troubleshooting to maintain efficiency and product quality.
- Ensure all systems and machinery operate safely and effectively.
- Monitor inventory of production and shipping supplies; initiate or recommend purchase orders as needed.
- Track KPIs, maintain accurate records, and take corrective actions based on performance data.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and safety.
- Coordinate and deliver training, including safety, job-specific tasks, and system usage.
- Act as a subject-matter expert and trainer for SAP and Eclipse production systems.
- Review employee performance, identify training needs, and support succession planning.
- Conduct monthly continuous improvement meetings to review processes, discuss issues, and share updates.
- Support hiring, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and promotion recommendations.
- Promote teamwork, communication, and positive workplace culture across departments.
- Maintain full compliance with corporate Health &; Safety policies and OH&S regulations.
- Perform regular safety inspections, lead safety talks, investigate incidents, and implement corrective actions.
- Participate actively in the Joint Health & Safety Committee.
- Lead and participate in quarterly inventory counts to ensure accuracy.
- Maintain professional conduct and strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Execute other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager or Director of Operations.
IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?
- Post‑secondary education preferred; minimum of a high school diploma required.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience.
- Experience in a unionized environment.
- Experience with SAP or another ERP system, and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Metal processing and slitting operations experience (asset).
- Ability to supervise the handling of steel coils using forklifts and overhead cranes (asset).
- Demonstrated knowledge of LEAN manufacturing principles; prior hands-on experience (asset).
- Solid understanding of OH&S Act and related safety regulations.
- Strong ethical standards with the ability to communicate effectively, coach team members, remain open‑minded, observe details carefully, and demonstrate perseverance.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively as a team player, take initiative, learn quickly, and consistently meet deadlines.
Working Conditions
- Fast-paced plant environment.
- Physically able to lift materials up to 50 pounds.
- Availability on the day shift for training purposes, possibly for the first two months.

The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate's competencies, including but not limited to education, experience, skills and qualifications as they relate to the role. Fully qualified and experienced candidates will typically align near the midpoint. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance measures.
