Our expectations:

Under the direction of the Operations Manager and based at our Surrey Fleetwood DC (Distribution Center), the Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising and leading a high-performing team that is tasked with handling product safely, efficiently and effectively as it moves through the facility. The Operations Supervisor executes daily and weekly operational plans to meet and exceed customer service requirements. The Operations Supervisor will be responsible for a team of Forklift Operators and other Yard employees.

*Shift: DAY, Monday to Friday (regular business hours)

**It's a Lumber Yard environment with an indoor and outdoor section

Your role:
  • Accountable for providing effective leadership to the team and evaluate productivity; mentor and build relationships with team members.

  • Ensure all work is conducted according to health and safety policies and legislation and that work is completed in a safe, efficient and accurate manner.

  • Conduct daily walks. Identify problem areas and arrange training when necessary.

  • Accountable for establishing the setup of workflows and assigning work to team based on inbound and outbound scheduling (including cross-dock and order fulfilment) to ensure operational goals are met.

  • Participate actively by operating MHE when required

  • Responsible for appointments schedule, receive POs in the system and systematic invoices for customers

  • Conduct cycle counts as per inventory control program

  • Conduct investigation as per claim process or instructions from the Distribution Services team.

  • Responsible for billing tasks and verifications related to the reception of products

  • Direct resolution to equipment issues (for example, replace failed equipment or contact Maintenance)

  • Maintain excellent relationship with customers, Supply Chain and support team.

  • Investigates new logistical innovations that would enhance overall facility performance.

  • Identify and assist in implementing process improvements

  • Conduct routine meetings with staff and encourages input in order to promote job enrichment and increase overall job satisfaction.

  • Assess staffing requirements necessary to process business volumes and submits recruitment and training plan to Operations Manager for review.

  • Perform other duties as required

The qualifications we are looking for:
  • College degree in logistics, production and operations management, replenishment, administration, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience and/or education)

  • 3-5 years prior supervisory or team leader experience in a warehouse, lumber yard or delivery center environment

  • Experience working in a Lumber Yard and with Lumber & Building Materials (strong asset)

  • Forklift certification (asset)

  • Comfortable working both inside and outside

  • Understanding of fulfillment/distribution center/warehouse processes and flow

  • Demonstrated team-building skills, ability to manage change well and remain positive to changes

  • Ease of use with information technologies and proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite

  • Experience working with an integrated warehouse management system (WMS)

  • Ability to react and make decisions quickly, team player attitude, and ability to work under pressure

  • Customer service and results driven approach

  • Excellent communication skills
