LOCATION: Administration Office, Pembroke
TYPE OF POSITION: Summer Employment

HOURS: Up to 35 hours/week
JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the Manager of IT, the Co-Op Student will assist in system implementations and provide support to all IT Staff. During the tenure of the Co-Op placement, the student will be engaged with different staff members, to assist in day-to-day job duties.
The IT Technician will be responsible for:
- Provide support for maintaining school board computer equipment, routine repairs, and preventative maintenance at the Administration office and school sites as required;
- Setup new Windows and Mac computers.
- Troubleshoot Network connectivity.
- Operate IT Helpdesk and respond to IT Orders.
- Planning and maintenance of new and existing Board and School LAN and WAN communication links;
- Assist/ observe in the maintenance and installation of WAN (Wide Area Network) nodes and components;
- Assist/observe in the maintenance and installation of LAN (Local Area Network) servers and components;
- Assist/ observe on the configuring, programming and table maintenance of WAN equipment, including routers, bridges, hubs and switches;
- Performing cable management and running/terminating Cab5e or Cat6 Cable as required.
- Keeping abreast of new technology developments and network hardware and software components; and
- Other related duties.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently Enrolled in a 2-year diploma program in Computer Systems, from Colleges and Universities recognized Ontario Community College or University;
- Excellent working knowledge of microcomputer and network operating systems and protocols (MacOS, Windows 10, Windows Server 2012 &2016, TCP/IP);
- A self-motivated, critical thinking team player with superior inter-personal and organizational skills;
- Present and maintain a composed, discreet and professional manner, and the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced computerized environment;
- Excellent command of verbal and written English;
- A valid driver’s license in good standing with the Ministry of Transportation, and access to a reliable mode of transportation for travel among Board schools and offices;
- Microsoft Office, Word and Excel, are assets.
