Global Functions Technology (GFT) is part of RBCs Technology and Operations division. GFTs impact is far-reaching as we collaborate with partners from across the company to deliver innovative and transformative IT solutions. Our clients represent Risk, Finance, HR, CAO, Audit, Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime, Capital Markets, Personal and Commercial Banking and Wealth Management. We also lead the development of digital tools and platforms to enhance collaboration.

As a member of the GFT Chief Operating Office (COO) Tableau team you will be primarily responsible for hands-on development, delivery and support of reporting / visualization services (Tableau) that we provide to our various GFT stakeholders and that can include IT Application Custodians to various levels of GFT Management across GFTs over 300 production applications. You will have ample opportunity to develop your professional skills and positively influence technology across RBCs Global Functions Technology (GFT) group.

What will you do?

Technical Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Consulting. Day to Day Operations / Operational Excellence:

  • Accountable for ongoing management of requests, scheduling, delivery of requests

  • Works collaboratively with stakeholders from planning through to delivery of services requested.

  • Identify and communicate issues, risks, or constraints that may block progress of deliveries. Seeking management support, as required.

  • Participate in regular intake, status, and/or reporting on status of requests

  • Develops, maintains, supports and improves dashboards including such items as:

    • any automated processes in place to populate the dashboards (ex. Tableau)

    • using a variety of technologies, data sources and connections, analyze, design, build and implement reports, dashboards and analysis, including, but not limited to financial, project, operational type data such as project, resilience and financial infrastructure costs.

  • Delivers with agility.

    • Explores options and recommends technology solutions or designs.

    • Liaise closely with requestor and users to establish requirements and deliveries.

    • Develop and communicate plans with accurate estimates for completion of requirements

    • Conduct or participate in meetings of various sizes

    • Ensures proper signoffs received before collaboratively scheduling implementations.

    • Ensures report catalog is up-to-date with all definitions, requirements and processes documented.

  • Support platform maintenance activities: such as Administer user permissions, platform access and security and perform environment capacity management for reporting environments. Coordinate, test to ensure GFT COO platform is ready for enterprise Tableau upgrades implementations.

  • Support / maintain reporting standards and provide recommendations including best practice data visualization techniques.

  • Identify and recommend opportunities for continuous improvements.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • 2+ years of proven demonstrated experience with data visualization tools. Preferably Tableau or tableau-equivalent (Power BI example).

  • General understanding of data management tools / technologies (SQL DBs, MS Access, various automation tools)

  • Demonstrated experience of reporting and metric design, and how to mine data and use it to tell a story about the health and status of the environment, platform, methodology or process being reported on

  • Advanced experience with Excel, including use of pivot tables and macros , Sharepoint

  • Strong analytical and data organization skills

  • High degree of self-initiative and sense of urgency
