In this role, you will:
- Provide strategic leadership of the Project Controls function across the full Rook I Project lifecycle (construction, commissioning, and transition to operations).
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of cost controllers, planners, schedulers, and reporting specialists.
- Foster a culture of accountability, performance, and continuous improvement.
- Establish and maintain robust cost control systems, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and cost risk assessments.
- Oversee development and maintenance of the integrated master schedule, including critical path analysis and progress tracking.
- Implement earned value management (EVM) and establish performance baselines to measure progress and productivity.
- Enforce effective change management practices to control scope, cost, and schedule impacts.
- Conduct schedule and cost risk analysis to identify and mitigate risks.
- Support claims management and ensure contract compliance.
- Develop and oversee reporting frameworks, dashboards, and KPIs to ensure clear visibility of project performance.
- Collaborate with project leadership, finance, engineering, and construction to align forecasts and performance targets.
- Lead the integration and implementation of project control systems.
- Support audits, stage gate reviews, and independent assurance processes.
- Ensure all project controls align with NexGen’s Integrated Management System and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as a key member of the project leadership team, influencing strategic and operational decisions
Qualifications / Requirements
To succeed in this role, you bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or related discipline; professional designation (P.Eng., PMP, CPA) preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive project controls experience in mining, energy, or large-scale capital projects.
- Proven track record leading multidisciplinary teams on projects exceeding $1B in value.
- Expertise in project controls tools and methodologies (Primavera P6, SAP, Omega 365, Power BI).
- Experience in integrated project team settings with oversight of EPCM and contractor performance.
- Strong financial and analytical acumen with the ability to simplify complex data into actionable insights.
- Exceptional leadership, collaboration, and communication skills.
- Experience working within regulated environments and liaising with permitting/licensing agencies (e.g., CNSC) is an asset
