Role & Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
The Commercial Manager will provide highly specialized knowledge in overseeing the commercial strategy on a project and customer account. This individual will work closely with the business development and operations team to develop and implement a commercial management system that drives performance and minimizes risk to the business.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in the infrastructure and/or Energy Capital Projects Markets. You will support Business Development, Corporate Strategy, and their efforts for conducting market research to identify new business opportunities and client leads, coordinating with company leadership to conduct risk assessments, and maintaining beneficial relationships with clients, suppliers, and other business partners.
  • Implement an effective system to ensure that all contractually required notices are delivered to the client and to internal team members, in accordance with the terms of the project agreement.
  • Administer the project contracts (project agreement, subcontracts, consultancy agreements, purchase agreements etc.), always ensuring that all contract deliverables and timelines are met while providing leadership to ensure commercial risks on project contracts are minimized.
  • Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of various contracts (with clients and subcontractors), in a way that optimizes the business' financial, legal, risk management and reputational positions.
  • Issue regular reporting and analytics on commercial issues to PTAG Leadership and Project Team members.
  • Engage with PTAG’s insurance advisors to develop appropriate Project insurance programs and coverages.
  • Exercise proper judgment to engage with the client's legal advisors to seek advice at the appropriate times.
  • Develop a risk management and mitigation plan to identify potential events (internal and external) that may cause the Project to fail to meet its objectives. Also, proactively analyze the risks associated with projects in the bid phase.
  • Commercial management of project close out/post practical completion, including defect liability period and O&M
  • Manage client relationships, identifying opportunities for new contracts.
  • Analyze data and create reports to identify areas of business growth.
  • Monitor local and federal regulations.
  • Bid on new projects and negotiate contract terms.
  • Recruit and oversee contractors and vendors.
Qualifications / Requirements
To succeed in this role, you bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Finance, Business Administration.
  • Postgraduate and Professional Designations desired; MBA, PMP
  • Great understanding of Finance, accounting, and Project reporting
  • 10 years’ experience working for a Consulting Services and/or Engineering, Procurement and Construction firm on major projects/large scale projects and/or high-value consulting services.
  • Minimum of 5 years commercial management experience on major projects working within Owner Rep, Prime-Sub, or Joint Ventures relationships throughout the project life cycle from bid to contract closeout.
  • Experience administering Project Management or Project Support Services Master Service Agreements, and/or equivalent relationships.
  • Strong skills in project management, communication, executive presentations, and leadership.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Solid line to Partner, Operation.
  • Dotted line to Partner, Business Development & Program Directors.
  • Direct Reports - 1 Contract Administrator.
