QUALIFICATIONS
* Current enrolment in an accredited Faculty of Pharmacy program and intending to return to the program in the fall
* Proficiency with Windows based programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook)
* Province of Manitoba Class 5 Drivers License, and access to a personal vehicle to provide service within Prairie Mountain Health
* Demonstrated ability in maintaining effective interpersonal working relationships required
* Demonstrated strong organizational, decision making and problem solving skills
* Ability to work independently and in a team environment
* Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
* Maintain a professional manner at all times
* Ability to prioritize in a changing environment
* Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population

POSITION SUMMARY

The Pharmacy summer student provides support to managers and staff through completion of various duties or projects under the supervision of pharmacy staff. The scope of the projects may include, but is not limited to, development of resources, reports, data collection and analysis, literature reviews and program or regional audits.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Prepare and distribute medications via the medication distribution system.
  2. Learn and function with pharmacy software systems.
  3. Compound and manufacture pharmaceutical products.
  4. Inventory control functions.
  5. Function in the Regional Pharmacy Program.
  6. Distribute controlled substances and maintain records.
  7. Assist in the research/literature search of drug information requests.
  8. Complete and present a project assigned by the Manager of Pharmacy Services.
  9. Completes sundry duties as assigned.
