QUALIFICATIONS
* The anticipated Base Site for this position is either Neepawa or Hamiota
* Post-secondary education relevant to the position
* Experience and knowledge of community development principles and strategies
* Minimum two (2) years experience working in a community development partnership role
* Knowledge of early childhood development and best practices
* Experience working with culturally diverse communities and families
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience in applying principles of child and adult learning
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience in group facilitation
* Ability to work flexibly with a variety of different partners and or teams
* Knowledge of Harm Reduction intervention strategies
* Province of Manitoba Class 5 Drivers License, and access to a personal vehicle to provide service within the Prairie Mountain Health
* Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint), as well as Internet applications and other Information Technology.
* Demonstrated leadership and supervisory ability.
* Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
* Demonstrated experience in employee and labour relations.
* Demonstrated experience in initiating changes and improvements, including skills in workplace re-engineering within a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) environment.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Parent Child Coalition Coordinator works collaboratively with parents, community partners and agencies to support the healthy development of children aged 0-6 years. The Coalition Coordinator works with the coalition to support existing community programs for families with young children as well as supporting the development of new initiatives that reflect the communities’ diversity and strengths. All programs and activities take into consideration the cultural diversity of the population.

The incumbent functions under the direction of the Assiniboine North Parent Child Coalition Advisory Committee. The Parent Child Coalition Coordinator functions in a confidential capacity in matters relating to labour relations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Overview:

  1. Develops, manages, and monitors, the program budget with the ANPCC Advisory Committee.
  2. Plans and delivers programming according to the Department of Families philosophy and pillars.
  3. Maintains knowledge base of current best practices as it relates to Parent Child Coalition target population.
  4. Builds community capacity by working with families, communities and service providers to identify needs and strengthen partnerships.
  5. Works in collaboration with community, partners and programs to determine coalition program focus and priorities.
  6. Networks with stakeholders, partners, community service providers to maximize resources.
  7. Knowledgeable of services provided to target population by community agencies.
  8. Assists communities in identifying existing community resources.
  9. Works in collaboration with communities and partners to build and strengthen partnerships.
  10. Serves as a resource and catalyst for community groups wishing to initiate programs for preschool children/families.
  11. Facilitates community programs.
  12. Works with communities to enhance the development of sustainable programming for preschool children and families through training opportunities.
  13. Informs communities of granting options available for community programming.
  14. Provides feedback to program manager and Advisory Committee on family and community needs and issues.
  15. Serve as a liaison between ANPCC and the Department of Families.
  16. Work within PMH policy and collaboratively with the PMH Communications Department to develop a comprehensive social media strategy.
  17. Participates in Parent Child Coalition provincial network.
  18. Organizes and Facilitates ANPCC Advisory and Operational meetings as required.
  19. Participates in the ANPCC Operations Committee to manage program budget.
  20. Provides regional program reports to manager and Department of Families as outlined in Service Purchase Agreement.
  21. Assists in the orientation of new staff within the program.
  22. Work with communities on best practice and provide an understanding of parent child programing.
  23. Train and support new facilitators in parent child interaction and group dynamics.
  24. Able to deliver parent child programing (such as Nobody’s Perfect, Rhyme Time, Handle with Care, etc.)
  25. Comply with required administrative duties.
  26. Attends and participates in Council of Coalition monthly meetings with other coalitions across the province.
  27. Able to travel within the coalition area and as needed for training.
  28. Sundry duties as assigned.
