QUALIFICATIONS
* Baccalaureate Degree in Psychiatric Nursing, Social Work, or Masters in Counselling Psychology.
* Eligible for active practicing licensure to practice with applicable regulatory body in the province of Manitoba
* Current certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention
* Current certification in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
* Three (3) years full-time equivalent professional experience in an approved Addictions and or Mental Health Care setting in the past five (5) years
* Province of Manitoba Class 5 Drivers Licence, or equivalent from province of residence, and access to a personal vehicle to provide service within Prairie Mountain Health
* Other combinations of related professional education and experience may be considered
* Demonstrated knowledge of current mental health trends, leading practices and the Mental Health Act and other related legislation
* Completion of minimum CODEC Level 1 Training, to demonstrated through understanding of issues related to addition and co-occurring disorder
* Evidence of on-going professional development to maintain skills and knowledge
* Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint), as well as Internet applications and other Information Technology
* Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to work independently
* Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills
* Demonstrated flexibility to facilitate changes in techniques and procedures in a changing environment

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Mental Health and Addictions Services Coordinator works within the guidance of the Management Team as a lead clinician providing clinical support and direction. This role includes the responsibility of supporting client care and services in accordance with Prairie Mountain Health’s community mental health & addictions program goals and service delivery models. Responsibilities include applying advanced clinical judgement, evidenced-based practices, continuous quality improvement while enhancing client access and navigation to services, monitoring program indicators, client flow and desired outcomes. The incumbent assists all staff to respond effectively to clients and families, within a recovery oriented-care approach, achieve continuous growth, engage in critical thinking, and provides support to staff and the program including program development, intake coordination, clinical supervision/consultation, staff scheduling and orientation, and meeting planning and liaising with external agencies. This position supports program change initiatives, standardized, innovative and safe practices for both clients and staff, and identifies learning and practice development needs for staff in maintaining clinical competencies.

The incumbent exercises the appropriate level of initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods to be employed and action to be taken on unusual matters. The position functions in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values; and the policies of Prairie Mountain Health.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Overview:

  1. Support client wellness and recovery within a collaborative team approach
  2. Adheres to all PMH and mental health and addiction program policies, procedures and guidelines and ensures that program goals and standards of care are met
  3. Assesses clients physical and psychological status as appropriate
  4. Perform clinical interventions with clients as required, including intake, monitoring, and documenting.
  5. Interview clients and identify needs, assists clients to determine appropriate services, facilitate referrals and linkages to identified supports, and community resources and participate in case planning with client and Team
  6. Liaise with community resources and service organizations including providing public education and training
  7. Coordinates and schedules appropriate supports for individuals in the program for the duration of their admission
  8. Participates in enhanced communication with staff to ensure appropriate comprehensive prioritization of service delivery and informs the Manager if any issues or concerns arise.
  9. Develops training materials and orientation for new staff as well as assisting in the development of resource materials
  10. Work collaboratively with others within established partnerships and client support systems
  11. Assists the Manager with program development, staff interviewing, scheduling, and vacancy management
  12. Provides input to assist in the employee performance review process and personal professional development program, as required
  13. Provides clinical supervision and clinical consultation of more complex cases to other staff
  14. Contributes to making the organization safe for patients, residents, clients and staff, and recognizes the importance of reporting unsafe situations and participating in follow up reviews as a learning opportunity.
