QUALIFICATIONS
* Advanced education in health or social sciences
* One (1) year of experience in a mental health or social service setting
* BCLS within the past twelve (12) months
* First Aid certification within the past three (3) years
* Other combinations of education and experience may be considered
* Willing to complete Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) education
* Willing to complete Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) education
* Proficient with Windows-based programs (Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
* Province of Manitoba Class 5 Drivers License, and access to a personal vehicle to provide service within Prairie Mountain Health
* Demonstrated organizational skills, and the ability to work independently
* Demonstrated communication skills
* Demonstrated flexibility to facilitate changes in techniques and procedures
* Ability to display independent judgment
* Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population
* Ability to respect and promote confidentiality
* Ability to perform the duties of the position on a regular basis


POSITION SUMMARY

The CWIII partners with the on-site nurse and community mental health workers to provide crisis intervention service to clientele. Using crisis intervention techniques, the CWIII performs the intake function, mobilizes resources and maintains statistics. The CWIII function includes participation in public relations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Overview:

  1. Function as the Mobile Crisis Unit intake/dispatcher when required.
  2. Provide follow-up crisis intervention contacts within skill set.
  3. Prepare summaries for client care-planning meetings.
  4. Provide post-exposure counseling.
  5. Statistical data entries and file audits.
  6. Assist with health record organization and file maintenance.
  7. Respond to requests for public education and information.
  8. Deliver education in public forums as required.
  9. Provide educational group sessions to clients in residence when required.
  10. Assist with interventions in the Crisis Stabilization Unit as requested.
  11. Assist in creating client goal plans and acts to support goals.
  12. Assist the CMHW on community visits as needed.
  13. Perform psychosocial and risk assessments and mobilizes appropriate resources.
  14. Facilitate small educational groups using basic counseling methodology and knowledge of group processes.
  15. Sundry duties as assigned.
