QUALIFICATIONS
*Grade 12 education (MB Standards)
*Willingness to complete and practice ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training)
*Willingness to complete and practice NVCI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention)
*Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Training as delineated in Prairie Mountain Health Policy PPG-00002 CPR Training
*Province of Manitoba Class 5 Drivers Licence, or equivalent from province of residence, and access to a personal vehicle to provide service within Prairie Mountain Health
*Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint), as well as Internet applications and other Information Technology
*Demonstrated organizational skills, and the ability to work independently
*Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills
*Demonstrated flexibility to facilitate changes in techniques and procedures in a changing environment
*Demonstrated knowledge and competence of skills and concepts related to the position

As a member of the Westman Crisis Service team, the Community Crisis Worker I (CWI) assists in the provision of crisis intervention services to clients, their families, and natural supports.The Community Crisis Worker I assists the team in the intake assessment, ongoing treatment planning, the resolution of the crisis, formulation of discharge planning and documentation of all care. The Community Crisis Worker I is responsible for the care and maintenance of the building and property, meals and a miscellany of support tasks.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Overview: The CW1 assists the team with intake, assessment, treatment plans, discharge, and follow-up plans to clients and their families in crisis situations.

  1. Answers the phone lines and identifies the needs of the callers;
  2. Assists the Nurse to provide follow-up to ensure service delivery and resolution to immediate crisis;
  3. Directs all queries regarding admission referrals to the Nurse;
  4. Assist the Nurse to complete the admission process, ensures all admission requirements are completed;
  5. Provides empathetic, supportive counselling to clients and their natural supports;
  6. Provide crisis intervention to ensure safety, alleviate symptoms and empower clients;
  7. Assist clients with goal plans;
  8. As directed by the Nurse, accompanies clients to activities or appointments;
  9. Assist with health record documentation, organization and management;
  10. Provides assistance, support, direction, and orientation to new or casual staff as directed;
  11. Other duties as assigned.
