Description
* Grade 12 education (MB Standards)
* Completion of Office Administration Medical Diploma, Health Unit Certificate with Medical Terminology Course (1 and 2 or equivalent), or equivalent hospital-based training.
* Comprehensive understanding and knowledge of medical terminology required
* Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint), as well as Internet applications and other Information Technology.
* Demonstrate organizational skills, and the ability to work independently

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Clerk III is responsible for maintaining an organized and efficient operating nursing station(s). The position is a pivotal point for the unit(s).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Overview:
1. Responsible for all clerical duties that are designed to support and maintain the day to day function of the Long-Term Care facility.
2. Responsible for greeting visitors to the station(s) and assisting with inquiries in consultation with the charge nurse.
3. Assist with transporting of residents, equipment, supplies, charts, specimens
4. Responsible for cleaning and replenishing rooms and equipment, while adhering to safe handling practices and infection control policies.
5. Arranges for referrals to other services and submits referral information as appropriate.
6. Gathers information and prepares routine and periodic reports in accordance with established schedules.
7. Prepares and dispatches mail, photocopying, and faxing as required.
8. Prepare and maintains statistical records in accordance with policies and procedures of the Prairie Mountain Health Region.
9. Answers the telephone, responding to inquiries and re-directing calls to appropriate individuals.
10. Maintains appropriate filing to ensure rapid retrieval of health records and other documents.
11. Review of health records at specified intervals for deficiencies. i.e. signatures, missing reports, etc.
12. Prepares requisitions and orders office supplies/stationary and maintains an inventory of same.
13. Monitors and assists with ordering and issuing of supplies/inventory and monitors equipment/repair orders
14. Creating resident charts including preparation of labels utilizing the approved standard chart sequence. Responsible for assembling resident charts on admission and dismantling charts on discharge and return to Health Records.
15. Responsible for backing resident charts to ensure sufficient blank physician order sheets and interdisciplinary progress notes in each chart.
16. Other duties as assigned.
