Position Summary

Prairie Land School Division is seeking a collaborative and student-focused teacher to join the complexity team. This role supports schools and classroom teachers in responding to the complex academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students in Kindergarten through Grade 6. The successful candidate will work closely with school teams and divisional staff to strengthen inclusive classroom practices and support educators in developing effective strategies to ensure all students can successfully participate in learning.

Primary Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with school administrators, classroom teachers, and divisional staff to support students with complex needs. This includes assisting educators in implementing strategies related to behavior support, academic intervention, and social-emotional development. The successful candidate will help teachers plan and implement effective classroom supports, model instructional and behavioral strategies, and assist teams in responding to challenging learning and behavioral situations. The role also involves supporting school teams in developing inclusive practices and building staff capacity to support diverse learners within the classroom environment.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate and have demonstrated experience teaching within the K-6 grade range. The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of inclusive education practices and experience supporting students with diverse academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs. Experience collaborating with school teams, implementing targeted intervention strategies, and supporting positive behavior approaches will be considered assets. Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively with teachers, administrators, families, and divisional staff.

Travel Expectations

Prairie Land School Division covers a large rural geographic area across east-central Alberta. The successful candidate will be expected to travel regularly to schools throughout the Division to provide in-person support, coaching, and collaboration with school teams. A valid driver's license is required and the ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of schools across the Division will be important. Division transportation will be provided.

This is a full time temporary position to start as soon as possible and continue for the remainder of the school year. There is a possibility that the assignment may be extended into the 2026-2027 school year. Individuals who currently hold continuing contracts and are interested in this position will retain their continuing contract status while accepting this temporary assignment through a temporary transfer. Preference will be given to a candidate with experience working in a multifaceted environment.
