This position is currently posted internally to CUPE employees for 5 working days until 4:30 p.m. October 7th, 2025 as per the CUPE Local 5829 Collective Agreement.

We are seeking a dynamic Career Practitioner to build student awareness and engagement in practical workplace learning opportunities. You will report directly to the Deputy Superintendent and work closely with teachers, school administrators, coordinators at universities, colleges and other community or industry partners, as well as parents and community members to expand access to career programs such as the Work Experience and Registered Apprenticeship Programs.

We are looking for an individual with strong communication and relationship-building skills, capable of engaging students and stakeholders through effective presentations and events. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, able to manage program data and student applications, and demonstrate a clear commitment to equity and student success. Experience working with diverse student populations, including Indigenous youth, and a willingness to participate in ongoing professional learning and collaboration with the Careers team are essential.

The Career Practitioner will build strong relationships with schools across the division, working closely with both high schools and some middle schools. In collaboration with coordinators and career coaches, this role supports students in exploring their futures through internships, hands-on learning and career pathway programs. The practitioner will also deliver presentations to students, parents, and community groups to increase awareness of opportunities such as the Registered Apprenticeship Program, while coordinating and supporting Careers events throughout the division.

This is a full time (1.0 FTE) position, working 35 hours per week to commence as soon as possible. You will be required to hold a certificate, diploma or degree in career development or equivalent work experience. You will exhibit strong computer skills, including effective working skills with Microsoft Office. You must be able to exhibit the associated skills to communicate with students, teachers and parents in a meaningful and professional manner. You will be expected to present yourself as an organized and professional representative of the staff, both in person, on the telephone and through correspondence. Confidentiality is essential.
