Description
Pembina Hills School Division requires a Temporary Full-time Senior High Generalist/ Humanities (ELA & Social Studies) Teacher for duties within Westlock Outreach School. Duties are to commence November 19, 2025 and will end June 25, 2026.
Position Description:
Pembina Hills School Division operates two Outreach programs, one in Barrhead, and one in Westlock. These programs are alternative programs for those students whose personal circumstances make it difficult to successfully attend a traditional high school. These programs are designed to help students achieve both academically and socially.
Qualifications:
- Must hold a valid Alberta teaching certificate
- Proficiency in the use of educational technology
- Successful classroom teaching experience
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Understanding and application of Assessment, Universal Design for Learning and Differentiated Instruction
- Experience with trauma-informed practices and mental health literacy is an asset
The Successful Candidate:
- Understands the importance of strong staff-student relationships and how to establish boundaries
- Works well in a collaborative team environment
- Is familiar with trauma-informed practices and believes that all students are capable of learning and being successful
- Recognizes the importance of establishing safe learning environments and classroom communities as the precursor to learning
- Will provide predictable and consistent support for all students
- Will be flexible in their approach to instruction and assessment, recognizing the value of assessment for and of learning
- Will program for students with an inclusive lens, ensuring opportunities with support for all students
- Will work well with community agencies to support the development of the whole child
- Will be comfortable taking students into the community for volunteering and educational opportunities
- Have a student first focus and a belief that all children can learn and succeed
- Is familiar with both Diploma and Knowledge of Employabilities pathways and the requirements for each
