Job Description:

Parsons continues growing in Western Canada and we are looking for talented civil, bridge, and transportation engineers and technicians to join our core infrastructure team in Manitoba and help us drive this growth. Come work with us to build our core team and set our success forward in Manitoba. Our new office in Winnipeg, MB has an opportunity for SENIOR BRIDGE ENGINEER to join our mobility solution team servicing our projects and clients in Manitoba. In this role you will work on creating innovative, practical solutions to various bridge projects and structures in Manitoba, and across Canada.

Along with your P.Eng and 8+ years of experience, you’ll have a successful track record in designing and managing projects with a strong work ethic. This position requires demonstrated bridge design experience, preferably in Manitoba, with a collaborative mindset and strong communication skills. Other broad skills that will be required to execute a variety of tasks include proposal and work plan preparation, engineering design, drawing review, and coordination with various project team members, sub-consultants, clients, and contractors. You’ll have the opportunity for professional progression as an instrumental member in the growth of our team.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Producing, supervising, and managing the creation of engineering deliverables on a wide variety of small to large bridge rehabilitation and new design projects from concept through construction in accordance with all applicable codes and regulations, to meet and exceed customer quality requirements.
  • Performing complex technical engineering tasks efficiently and accurately both independently and as part of a team, while leading and mentoring less experienced team members.
  • Preparing and checking detailed engineering calculations and models, drawings, specifications, technical reports, quantities and cost estimates, procurement documents, design packages, proposals, and detailed analyses.
  • Providing technical engineering services during construction, including the review of contractor submissions.
  • Performing inspections of existing bridges and other structures including coordinating and leading inspection teams and specialized sub-consultants, providing renewal and repair recommendations, and completing life cycle cost analyses.
  • Leading successful project pursuits, including determining budget estimates and staffing requirements and writing winning proposals.
  • Performing Project Management duties including assembling and managing project teams, controlling project budgets and schedules, quality control of deliverables, client interaction and management, and financial reporting.
  • Providing input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and less experienced Engineers working on the same and other projects.
  • Willingness to travel or relocate to supplier, client, or construction site locations, is expected subject to project needs.

Minimum Requirements

  • 4-year degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered in Manitoba (or eligible for registration).
  • 8 years or more of recent progressive related bridge engineering design experience, including inspection, condition assessment, analysis, load-rating, design, technical report writing, and construction experience.
  • Strong project management, leadership, communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and collaborative skills, and ability to provide effective technical mentoring to less experienced engineers.
  • Extensive practical working knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, and the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CSA S6).
  • Proficiency in utilizing Autodesk and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Previous project experience with Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure (MTI) and the City of Winnipeg (COW).
  • Experience with MTI Structures Design Manual, standard details, and specifications.
  • Experience with structural analysis software such as SAP2000, CSiBridge, Midas Civil,.. etc.)
