We are seeking a creative, dynamic, committed professional to join our team:

PROGRAM MANAGER, ADMISSIONS/ENROLMENT

Location: OCDSB Administration Building; 133 Greenbank Road Nepean, ON

Position Status: 1.0 Regular, Full-time (12 months per year)

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week

Affiliation: Union Exempt

Salary range: $94,435 to $111,141 (Level 7)



Job Summary

Under the direction of the General Manager of Planning, the Program Manager of Admissions/Enrolment acts as the Board's representative pertaining to student funding in accordance with the requirements of the Education Act; ensures adherence to the admissions policies of the Board in conjunction with the requirements of the Education Act and the Immigration Act; performs enrolment audits in the system; and coordinates the administration and maintenance of records pertaining to both the Admissions and Enrolment functions.

Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Liaising with superintendents and school staff in relation to admission decisions;

  • Providing specialized support to schools in terms of admission and immigration requirements;

  • Liaising with the Family Reception Centre regarding the admission of new immigrants requiring ESL/ESD assessment;

  • Coordinating the acceptance of exchange students in accordance with Section 49(7) of the Education Act;

  • Providing ongoing admission information updates through the Admissions & Enrolment Guidelines;

  • Co-ordinating and instructing in-service training workshops to schools, collectively and on an individual basis, in order to provide information on Policy and Procedure, Admissions and Enrolment Guidelines, and Ministry reporting to guarantee maximum funding;

  • Managing division staff including hiring, evaluating performance, and motivating and mentoring staff;

  • Manages enrolment statistics such as, accumulating and maintaining department statistics of 'pupils of the Board' and 'other' students;

  • Conducting school audits on enrolment and attendance records to ensure the accuracy and integrity of enrolment data.



Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in Public Administration, Business Administration or a related field and 5 years of progressive related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered;

  • Thorough knowledge of the school system and programs; the Education Act and its Regulations governing Student Focused Funding in Ontario; and the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA);

  • Knowledge, understanding and practical application of the policies, procedures, various acts and changing legislation related to the admission of students and school board enrolment;

  • Managerials skills, including leadership experience for directing, supervising and evaluating staff performance; and leading, mentoring and coaching teams;

  • Interpersonal and Communications skills (verbal and written) for interacting with managers and senior administration and school administration staff regarding admission, reporting and retention requirements and school auditing processes; makes presentations in a large and small group setting; writing skills for writing Board reports;

  • Organizational skills and time management techniques for juggling multiple demands, organizing work of the team, working around board and ministry timelines;

  • Analytical and attention to detail and accuracy is required for funding purposes;

  • Judgment skills for decision-making, problem resolution;

  • Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Suite and Google applications to accomplish work.
