We are seeking creative, dynamic, and committed teachers to join our team at Avalon Public School.

Avalon Public School is a beautiful school in a diverse community. We welcome students from Kindergarten to Grade 6 and both the English and Early French Immersion Programs. We are a growing school with a population of around 350 students and with continued growth we expect more students to join us throughout the next few years. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive school community and support students from a variety of cultures, ethnicities and races. Eligibility List

All Occasional Teachers are eligible to apply for Long Term Occasional postings for which they are qualified. If you are fully external to the OCDSB, you may apply to this posting if you have the required qualifications.

  • Current elementary occasional teacher applicants, followed by

  • Qualified external applicants.

    OCT Additional Qualifications: FSL Part 1

    Additional Requirements (experience, knowledge, education,) considered an asset for the Position: Special Education qualifications, Music qualifications.     A minimum of 3 qualified applicants will be offered an interview, including:

  • At least three (3) teachers, who are currently employed as an occasional teacher with the OCDSB, and who have the required OCT qualifications and who best meet the criteria outlined in the job posting.

  • If fewer than three (3) qualified applicants apply, all qualified applicants will be interviewed.



  • It is the expectation that a teacher who accepts an assignment must agree to complete the assignment as posted.
