About This Opportunity

Porter’s Lake Medical Clinic is currently seeking a full-time Physician, located a short 40 minute drive from Halifax (30 minutes from Dartmouth). This practice offers the opportunity to participate in hospitalist coverage for a 16-bed inpatient unit, Long-term care and a level 4 Emergency Department at the Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital as a part of its Collaborative Emergency Centre model of Care (CEC). The call schedule for the emergency department is currently 1:6.

The position is compensated through the CEC hourly rate, offers competitive overhead, and is eligible for the current DHW incentive program.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Examine patients and take their histories, order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures
  • Advise patients on health care, health promotion, and disease prevention
  • Consultation and referral to other medical practitioners
  • Act as a patient’s advocate
  • Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations and vaccinations
  • Report births, deaths, contagious and other diseases as per Nova Scotia Public Health requirements

Qualifications
  • Eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
  • Eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
