Located in the rapidly growing Larry Uteck area of Bedford, this clinic is currently home to four family physicians, with room for more. This is a very friendly and collegial working environment, where physicians interact regularly and provide support to one another. This clinic serves a good mix of patients from cradle to grave. Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Examine patients and take their histories, order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures; advise patients on health care, health promotion, and disease prevention

Consultation and referral to other medical practitioners’

Act as a patient’s advocate

Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations and vaccinations

Report births, deaths, contagious and other diseases as per Nova Scotia Public Health requirements

Qualifications

Eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)

Eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)

Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)

Community Details

Bedford is a suburban community of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. It was an independent town from 1980 to 1996. Bedford is on the northwestern end of Bedford Basin, an extension of the Halifax Harbour, which ends just before Nova Scotia Highway 102 and the Bedford Bypass, next to Lower Sackville. There is a popular walkway along much of the Bedford Basin waterfront that begins at DeWolfe park, and continues as the Bedford-Sackville Connector Greenway, a crushed gravel covered trail that meanders along the Sackville River. There is an outdoor 25m pool and smaller splash pool located at the Lions Park on Shore Drive, as well as two large recreational centres with year round in-door pool complexes within 10-15 minutes. Bedford is home to strong youth recreational sports, hosting the largest youth basketball tournament in Canada annually. In addition to basketball, hockey, soccer and football have strong youth organizations. In the summer there are numerous lakes suitable for swimming. The community is currently home to six ice surfaces. Bedford is a well-established sailing community, and is home to the Bedford Basin Yacht Club and Marina. Bedford has a strong school system boosting two of the newest high schools in metro Halifax.
