Strong Start Facilitator
Nisga'a School District 92
Nisga'a School District No. 92 invites applications for a Strong Start Facilitator working in the schools throughout the Nass Valley. Based out of the School Board Office and under the direction of the Superintendent, this is a part-time, 5 hours a day, term position starting as soon September 2, 2025. This position will be at multiple schools and will require you to have your own reliable vehicle.
Located in the Nass Valley in Northwestern British Columbia, the Nisga'a School District encompasses the traditional treaty territory of the Nisga'a Nation. Role Overview:
A Strong Start Facilitator plays a vital role in supporting early learning and development by guiding families, caregivers, and young children through enriching educational experiences. This position involves creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where children can explore, play, and grow socially, emotionally, and cognitively. Facilitators collaborate with parents and community partners to promote school readiness, model positive interactions, and provide resources that support early childhood development. They also observe and assess children's progress, ensuring that activities are developmentally appropriate and aligned with learning goals. Strong communication, empathy, and a passion for early education are key to success in this role.
Preference will be given to candidates who have:
- Respect and value diversity and are committed to reconciliation by meaningfully integrating Nisga'a and other Indigenous perspectives into their practice.
- Adapt their teaching to meet the needs of all learners and respond flexibly to the learning environment.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills and interpersonal skills
- Good organizational and planning skills
- An understanding of, and commitment to, quality early learning
- Knowledge of child development, family dynamics, community resources and early learning
- A certificate in Early Childhood Education
- A valid Child Safe First Aid Certificate
- Experience creating, planning, implementing and budgeting for a parent participation early learning program
