Job Description
JOB SUMMARY

Assist Ontario Works participants and their families in enhancing the quality of their lives through a coordinated and holistic casemanagement approach that combines supportive services offered through the Ontario Works Program, other Divisions and Departments within the Regional Municipality of Niagara and key community partners. Utilizes superior employment coaching skills, motivational skills and assessment abilities in assisting participants to access sustainable employment and/or alternate sources of income that ensure participant self-reliance and self-sufficiency. Ensures the provision of responsive and effective service delivery within an enhanced customer service framework that emphasizes and respects the unique circumstances of each participant. Applies principles of discretionary decision making within a complex legislative and policy environment that supports innovative approaches to achieving and sustaining positive participant outcomes.

EDUCATION
  • Completion of a university program, with a degree in Social Sciences or Social Work or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE
  • Over two years of experience in casemanagement, employment coaching and assessment in a human services environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of community services.
  • Experience in an employment assistance program for social assistance clients is an asset.
SKILLS
  • Must possess excellent communication, analytical, problem solving, and time management skills.
  • Must possess ability to analyze and assess participant employability
  • Proficient in use of computer applications (Internet, Email, SAMS, Windows, Excel).
  • Fluency in other languages is an asset.
  • Diversity and sensitivity training an asset.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must maintain ability to travel in a timely manner to other offices, work locations or sites as authorized by the Corporation for business reasons.
