A career as a senior legal and compliance advisor within the Insurance team at National Bank means acting as a legal and regulatory reference to support a strong risk management culture and ensure the compliance of sector practices. This role allows you to make a tangible impact on client protection through your expertise in law, compliance and insurance.
Your role
• Advise senior management, internal teams and external partners on decisions requiring expertise in compliance and legal matters• Provide formal legal opinions on files across all Canadian jurisdictions• Oversee the management of contracts and agreements with partners, suppliers, insurers and financial security advisors, in collaboration with the Bank’s specialized teams• Monitor developments in the legal and regulatory framework across Canada and support management in implementation and change management initiatives• Deploy, maintain and continuously enhance best legal and regulatory practices, including the compliance program and related documentation• Represent the Insurance sector with regulatory authorities and industry committees, and lead required follow-ups, reports and action plans

The Insurance sector is made up of a committed team of specialists who work proactively and collaboratively to strengthen risk management, ensure regulatory compliance and continuously improve practices.
Within National Bank Insurance, you are part of a team of five colleagues and report to the Head of Compliance and Risk Management. Requirements
• Hold a relevant bachelor’s degree and have seven years of related experience, or a relevant master’s degree and five years of related experience, or a first‑cycle university certificate and nine years of related experience• Be a member in good standing of the Barreau du Québec or another Canadian law society for more than three years• Demonstrate advanced expertise in the legal and regulatory framework applicable to the insurance industry• Have in‑depth knowledge of products and activities related to the insurance sector• Possess significant experience managing complex legal and regulatory files
