A career as a Senior legal advisor in the Personal Banking and Intellectual Property team, Projects Sector within the Legal Affairs at National Bank means acting as a specialist in banking and consumer law. This role allows you to have a tangible impact on the Bank’s operations and client experience through your legal expertise, business acumen, and experience navigating evolving regulatory environments.
Your role
  • Advise on legal matters related to personal banking products, including banking and consumer law
  • Contribute to the implementation of regulatory and technology-driven initiatives, including payments and open banking
  • Support the evolution of banking activities by participating in innovative projects and emerging legal frameworks
  • Conduct legal analysis and research, formulate recommendations, and provide opinions to support business decisions
  • Act as a strategic partner to business lines in regulatory analysis, product development, and implementation
  • Draft and review client-facing documentation in compliance with legal requirements and business needs
  • Contribute to process improvement and adaptation to regulatory, technological, and market changes
  • Analyze and interpret legal documents to protect the Bank’s interests
  • Participate in committees and represent the Bank with external stakeholders or industry groups
Your teamWithin the Personal Banking and Intellectual Property team, you will be part of a multidisciplinary group of professionals who make a real and positive impact on clients by protecting and enhancing the Bank’s assets. You will report to the Senior Director, Projects and collaborate closely with other legal professionals on the team.

Prerequisites
  • Bachelor’s degree in Law and between 5 to 10 years of relevant experience
  • Member in good standing of a Bar or the Chambre des notaires du Québec or another Canadian bar
  • Experience in banking law, consumer law, or regulatory law
  • Experience related to payments, financial technologies, or complex regulatory environments
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple files simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience using technological tools or artificial intelligence in a legal context
