This position Supports Electronic Trading and Market Making at National Bank Financial Group.
As our newest Senior Electronic Trading FIX Specialist / Manager, you will work with our developers, traders and technology experts to implement, test and continuously deliver new features and products to our customers.
Your job
- Act as SME for our enterprise Fix implementation
- Understand and modify large, complex programs as part of a team. The role might include the day-to-day management of 3 employees
- Be responsible for the architectural design of complex software solutions and components
- Be involved with and/or prepare database design for Financial and Research applications
- Participate in design discussions and produce design/functional artifacts
- Assist in user requirement process, task breakdown, effort estimation and implementation of new software features in an incremental manner using agile methodologies
- Optimize algorithms, improve the efficiency of the technology
- Research new technologies and software solutions - out-of-the-box innovative thinkers are highly valued
- Stay current in the field of software development and learning new programming platforms, tools and languages as needed
- Develop moderate complexity to highly complex software solutions in support of business requirements and in accordance with predetermined software solution design standards
- Document all efforts for support, maintenance and reference purposes using existing tools in use.

Prerequisites
- Degree in Computer/Software Engineering, or related discipline with a Developer background
- Minimum 5 years hands on FIX experience
- Experience with Java, Python, AWS, cloud computing are assets
- Data Science, Machine learning and A.I. experience or exposure, an asset
- Enjoy and have interest working within the dynamic environment of Capital/Financial Markets
- Excellent communication skills
- Working knowledge of PERL, LINUX, Informix, MQ series, an asset.
